The students in Guam's public schools represent a wide variety of ethnic backgrounds which results in enriching contributions to the total teaching-learning environment.

There are approximately 4,000 employees with the  Public School System including teachers, librarians, counselors and other support staff. Guam has a single unified school district with an elected policy board. The Guam Education Policy Board serves as the main policy making body, with nine of the eleven members elected to two-year terms. In addition, the department operates 37 schools and other major divisions, with a student enrollment of more than 31,000.
